Tony Pham lives in New York City and is currently the Head of Marketing at Kadena, a blockchain and cryptocurrency company. In addition to his role at Kadena, he serves as a startup advisor, certified Compassion Cultivation Training © teacher, and meditation instructor. He is passionate about working with those who identify as people of color, queer, and members of other marginalized communities.

Meditation, Compassion, and Spiritual Companionship

Tony (he/they) started meditating in 2010 during a difficult time when he was questioning all the stories people told him about who he was supposed to be. He is a facilitator and healer that occupies the intersection of queer and BIPOC identities. He also identifies as a 2nd generation Vietnamese American whose parents immigrated to the United States as refugees from war. Tony goes by Butterfly in spiritual spaces where they steward practices rooted in compassion, indigeneity, and sacred lineages. They graduated from MNDFL’s 300-hour secular meditation instructor program, having received mentorship from B. Anderson and David Perrin. They are also an alumnus of the East Bay Meditation Center’s PiTA8 trauma informed mindfulness program for social justice activists. He is presently a formal student of Arinna Weisman (Theravada/Vipassana) and Lama Rod Owens (Vajrayana/Tibetan Buddhism). In addition to being a certified Compassion Cultivation Training © teacher at Tibet House US, Tony has also completed death doula and non-violent communication training. Butterfly is honored to currently serve as treasurer on the board of directors of the Buddhist Peace Fellowship and as a grief group facilitator with the COVID Grief Network. They now reside in Brooklyn (occupied Canarsie/Munsee Lenape land).

Marketing

Tony Pham is currently the Head of Marketing for Kadena, a blockchain technology company that spun out of J.P. Morgan. In addition to leading co-marketing with DeFi partners such as Celo, Chainlink and Terra, he is responsible for branding, communications, customer development, lifecycle engagement, and product marketing.

Tony began his career in Silicon Valley by managing product marketing at Slide (acquired by Google), followed by a position as the first VP of Marketing at Life360 (IPO on ASX). He is recognized as an industry leader, winning a Webby Award and getting invited to speak at conferences such as Mobile World Congress (Barcelona), SxSW (Austin), and Marketing 2.0 (Paris). Outside of work, Tony mentors young entrepreneurs with 500 Startups (Latin America). He graduated from Grinnell College and is a Fulbright Scholar.
